Why Choose Rockford Fosgate P3-2X12 Enclosed Car Subwoofer?
Feature Similar Tonal Performance
The most convenient way to get low-frequency bass in your system is to drop in a Punch loaded enclosure. We're not talking junk in the trunk, we're talking the same genuine Punch woofers available separately. The P3-2X12 is dual 12” Punch P3 DVC subwoofers in a Rockford Fosgate built vented enclosure, with a power handling of 1200 Watts RMS and wired to a 1-Ohm load.
Heat-sink Aluminum Cone
The enclosure houses a Punch P3 12" sub, with a rigid anodized aluminum cone that holds its shape through heavy play, while staying light and responsive. The aluminum cone acts as a giant heat sink, and works alongside advanced cooling vents to direct heat away from the copper-clad aluminum voice coils. These innovative cooling techniques, plus a heavy-duty motor assembly, let this sub handle up to 600 watts RMS without flinching. The sub's dual voice coils are wired for a 1-ohm total impedance, so make sure your amp can power this enclosure safely.
Advanced Port Design
Rugged 5/8" medium-density fiberboard construction means this enclosure will hold strong for fat, heavy bass. Industrial-grade black carpet provides a clean, finished look, and protects your trunk from nicks and scratches. The spring terminals will accept bare wire, pin connectors, or banana plugs. This enclosure uses an advanced port design that promotes generous air movement, while reducing distortion-causing port noise, so you hear louder, deeper bass. Add an amp and some wiring, and feel the thick low end this enclosure adds to your ride
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- • Why does my P3-2X12 make a strange noise from the port?
Some owners have reported hearing unusual air or port noise at higher volume levels. This can become more noticeable when the enclosure is pushed hard.
- • Can the P3-2X12 get damaged if I use the wrong amplifier?
Yes. One user reported damaging the subs while running them from a Rockford 1000.1BD amplifier. Proper gain adjustment and matching the amplifier to the subwoofer's power requirements are important.
- • Why does the bass sound slightly sloppy with some music?
A user reported that the bass could sound less controlled with rock and techno tracks. They suspected the ported enclosure's characteristics rather than the subwoofers themselves.
- • Why do my headlights or interior lights dim when the bass hits?
The P3-2X12 can demand substantial electrical power at high output. Some reported setups experienced noticeable voltage fluctuations or dimming lights when the system was played aggressively.
- • Do I need to break in the P3-2X12 before playing it loudly?
Several owners recommend allowing the subwoofers to break in before immediately pushing them to high output. One long-term user specifically emphasized breaking them in before heavy use.
- • Why is my P3-2X12 difficult to wire to my amplifier?
The enclosure's internal wiring can cause confusion, particularly for owners using a two-channel amplifier or trying to bridge an amplifier. One user specifically asked how to connect the enclosure's single positive and negative terminals to a two-channel amp.
- • Can the P3-2X12 overpower my factory door speakers?
Yes. The dual 12-inch setup can produce significantly more bass than many factory speaker systems can comfortably match. Users have noted that the subwoofers can dominate the rest of the system when the output is turned up.
- • Why does the P3-2X12 sometimes cause parts of my vehicle to rattle or loosen?
The enclosure can generate extremely strong low-frequency vibration. Owners have reported mirrors, trim, latches, and other vehicle components vibrating or coming loose during heavy bass playback.
- • Is the P3-2X12 too demanding for a smaller amplifier?
Not necessarily. Users have successfully operated the enclosure with different amplifier power levels, but the amplifier must be appropriately matched and configured. One owner reported excellent results with a 500-watt amplifier, while others used around 1,000 watts or more.
- • What should I check if my P3-2X12 isn't hitting as hard as expected?
Start with amplifier gain, wiring, impedance, power delivery, enclosure placement, and the vehicle's electrical system. Owners consistently report that proper amplifier matching and installation make a major difference in getting the deep, powerful bass these subs are known for.

I put these in my car paired with the t500-1bdcp. I just want to let anyone who is thinking about buying these know you are in for a real treat. You should break them in first before you do anything else. There are some people who does not like to wait, but you will not regret it in the long run. The sound is amazing, the looks are great, and it will for sure beat your ride to death. I can't stress enough about the break-in, but talk to anyone who had been doing this as long as I have and they will tell you the same. As I always say if you like it, buy it. No regrets here.

The price was great. I havent pushed them too hard yet so that they get broke in but so far they pound very nicely. Defininitely impressed with rockford fosgates and I cant wait to hear just how hard theyll hit once theyve had some break in time. I had the low end rockford fosgates before and they were loud as hell and these p3's are a huge step up from the previous so im betting these will be even louder.

I had these speakers connected in my vehicle before and the sound quality and bass was great for the amp that I was running with it (Punch500.1) Still waiting to a bigger amp and test the limits of this product and will send an updated review. All in all a good purchase, I really enjoy Rockford Fosgate products.
